Ok, we’re 40. (Well I’m actually 39, but close enough!) And as we get older, it’s time to stop chasing six-pack abs or the “perfect” booty and start focusing on why we strength train.
Here’s the truth:
Bone health: By age 50, nearly 1 in 2 women have low bone mass or osteoporosis. Resistance training is one of the most effective ways to maintain and build bone density, helping to prevent fractures later in life.
Blood sugar control: Lifting weights significantly improves insulin sensitivity, making it easier to regulate blood sugar and lowering your risk of type 2 diabetes.
Brain health: Strength training stimulates hormones and growth factors that support brain function helping improve memory, focus, and yes, easing that frustrating brain fog.
Longevity and independence: Research shows regular strength training can reduce the risk of premature death by up to 27%. But it’s not just about adding years to your life it’s about adding life to your years. Strength training keeps you capable and independent whether it’s bathing yourself, climbing stairs, or simply standing up from a chair with ease.

If you’re not already strength training, now is the perfect time to start. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes but the sooner you begin, the more your future self will thank you.
That’s exactly why I created Strong Through Menopause a complete wellness program designed for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. This isn’t just about building muscle, it's about reclaiming your energy, protecting your health, and creating habits that will carry you confidently into the next chapter of life.
